How is a military ball really conducted?
My JROTC Corp wants to do a military ball this is our first time ever, pretty much making history for our corp. Does anyone know all the procedures and the sequences of the military ball. Thanks for the help.

If it’s just a ball, no real difference between that and any other dress ball. A "dining-in" will have a dinner first.

Well, I’m in ROTC, and out dinning out is this February-whaooo. what I was briefed on was that guys have to have chivalry-when a lady stands up, her man lift her chair and so forth. Open her doors etc. All cadets where dress blues-girls wear long skirts and instead of wearing their blue blouse, they wear a white shirt underneath their dress coat, and make it have a collar but no buttons on the side of the collar. You wear pumps, but make it conservative-black and one inch heal and you can wear you hair up in any style. And, as for the guys, they too wear White shirts underneath their uniforms. Also, any guest at all must wear long dresses-like it’s a prom-because that is basically what it is, only you get briefed on the military; how great the branch is, and you listen to the cadre speak or officers. Also, Air Force doesn’t dance-lol, I wish we would, but we don’t. But, this doesn’t mean you can’t play hip-hop-but remember to behave, as you are in uniform, representing. As far as I know, your suppose to have a guest speaker at your dinning out-as that is what it is called. And, you eat; listen to the rave about whatever he/she wants to address and just have fun and dance the night away, and also take pics-to remember the night. Make the place look conservative-as the Air Force is, but make it pretty, like lights and white sheets etc. Basically think "Cinderella Ball" it is a very Honorable day, and a very fun one too. Have fun!!

Pretty sure this holds true with JROTC. There will first be a receiving line where you walk through and greet the command. Following that you will spend a brief time at social hour. Once called to the dining room, colors will be posted, and various other events, depending on the unit. (Infantry has a nice "grog display" honoring each battle with a different type of drink tossed into a vat) I’ve posted a link for you for further information. Good luck and Have Fun!!

This is actually a really good guide for conducting a military ball. In addition, for LSU’s military ball, we have a "saber arch ceremony" where cadets who are graduating walk under a saber arch while they are recognized–it’s actually pretty cool.
