How can I know the answer to many general knowledge questions?

By politicalwag.com | June 28, 2010

My general knowledge is horrible so how can I know the answer to many general knowledge questions. In other words, how can I expand my general knowledge?

Read – a lot. I read the daily newspaper, Time magazine, novels – pretty much anything. I even read articles about things which don’t even apply to me! For example I have never had children and my nieces and nephews are in their 20’s yet I read articles about caring for babies and how to raise children. I am so curious about everything. Unfortunately I’m in my 60’s and my retention level has taken a nosedive. Even so, you will also gain knowledge as you gain experience simply by becoming older.

I know a lot about fish because I’ve had them for more years than I can remember. I know a lot about cats for the same reason plus I foster cats & kittens for a local "no kill" shelter. Same thing with genealogy, scrap booking and quilting. I could go on and on but you get the picture.

Almost forgot. You can learn a lot by doing more difficult crossword puzzles.

the best thing you can do is to do general knowledge quizzes on the internet & then revise the answers that you get wrong (even if it is all of them!)
it doesn’t really matter if you have bad general knowledge; unless you are participating in a TV show, like Mastermind, where you actually need general knowledge.
