Are parameters like temperature, humidity, wind, rain and snowfall important for boats and ships (large and small ones) that travel on rivers? In which way are the ships or the crew affected, and to what extent is the weather important?

Weather can play a part in the way the cruise goes. We run in all weathers, except high winds ( over 35 knots ). We will try to cruise in an area that is protected from winds and run slower when we do go, more for the comfort on the guests on board. I have done cruises in rain, snow and even freezing temps, having to break ice to get back to our dock. Our vessels have a captain and 2 deck hands, and the only person the bad weather truly effects is the extra stress on the captain. The vessel itself will handle anything that we are willing to go in.

All along the Costa Balance shoreline, the weather is favorable most of the year, and Benidorm is no exception. The secret ingredients for this perfect weather are the mountains to the north that protect the region from cold northern winds. Even in the winter, the weather is comfortable.

This is a typical Mediterranean climate, with long hot summers and a moderate winter season. The spring and fall seasons usually have warm temperatures. This makes Benidorm a perfect year round destination, even though summer is the most popular time for visitors. Nice hot weather, beautiful beaches and very little rain make this a perfect beach vacation.

The extended summer, May through October, are the most popular times for vacationers to the Costa Blanca. The spring is very mild, with little rain to interrupt the sunshine. The high temperatures in the spring only range from 16 to 21 degrees Celsius, and the lows are 9 to 14 Celsius.

In high summer, the temperatures are hotter, from 15 to 27 degrees Celsius, with August the hottest month of all, when temperatures can approach 40 degrees Celsius, or 104 Fahrenheit. But with the beach and the water so close, no one minds being warm and taking a dip to cool off. In the evenings, when you want to be a bit more active, the temperatures fall to the 18 to 20 degree range.

Since the summer is the hottest and most popular for beach goers, it can be very crowded in those months. If you plan on traveling to the Costa Blanca during the busy summer months, make sure you book your airfare, hotel and car rental well in advance. If you don’t you will have to pay premium prices and will not have a good selection.

Autumn is considered the rainy season, but since this area doesn’t get much rain at any time of the year, there is not a lot of rain. But rain storms and electrical storms do occur, as well as the attendant flooding, so this is the least popular time of year for tourists. But the temperatures are still mild, between 16 and 25 degrees Celsius, dropping to between 11 and 19 degrees. If there are rain storms, they most frequently occur in the evening.

Winter is Benidorm is also very mild, especially compared to the rest of Europe. Many northern Europeans love to escape their frigid climates to the relative warmth of the Mediterranean shores. Many retirees stay in the Benidorm region for the entire winter season. It is very pleasant and there is still plenty to do. There is no snow, and the high temperatures during the winter fall in the range of 12 to 14 degrees Celsius. Since there is little rain in the winter, retirees can enjoy golf, or just strolling and relaxing out of doors. The night temperatures drop to between 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, cool, but not as cold as the northern climates they left.

What month can you start swimming in Johannesburg, South Africa? When is it pool weather or when is it hot enough to swim?

When does the hot pool weather end? What month do people usually stop swimming, because it’s too cold or windy?

Growing up in Johannesburg, I remember we would always want to swim by early September, but my dad would say we could only swim "after the first spring rains", which is typically late September/early October.

Many people venture into the water by September, but honestly it is still cold and I wouldn’t particularly want to until October. November-January are the best months for swimming, though you might still have some good swimming days in February/March. By April, I would say it is too cold.

However, our weather patterns have been far less consistent over the past few years, so it is actually a bit difficult to tell for sure.

The Caribbean has been for eons a preferred vacation spot of tourists from the world over. In fact, millions of people visit the islands from the United States alone. The allure & charisma of the Caribbean lies not just on its stunning beaches and quixotic sunsets – it also has a prosperous account of olden times and a multihued culture that truly makes it addictive.

Barbados is considered to be one of the paramount tourist spots in the whole world. Being the Caribbean’s most populace and bustling island Barbados is at all times teeming with the tourists round the year. It is said that Barbados’s fascinating exquisiteness and fabulous weather sets the tenor of your mood. For years Barbados’s soothing weather has been attracting tourists round the globe irrespective of the season whether it is summers or winters. Herein one will find sun-bathed seas round the calendar, which characteristically sets the tropical climate. Barbados weather is nearly warm round the year where you find high 20 degree Celsius in February whereas low 30’s in June.

June to November is the months where you will find the damp Barbados, as these are the probable rainy seasons. But rain seldom lasts for long here and Barbadians will let you know the exact days of the cloudy overcast here. Usually Barbados weather is placid and pleasant but the north of the island normally escapes from the tropical heat due to mild altitude changes. Barbados has got high percentage of humidity but it withered away from the cool Caribbean Sea breeze, which is all-pervading to endow with the much required let-up from the sweltering heat.

Regardless of being bound by seas all around hurricanes still misses this island, which provide you with docile seas to linger around. Hurricanes usually ascend in the African coast and head towards the Caribbean before dithering to the north almost 100 miles from Barbados. Daytime in Barbados is reasonably hot whereas night is somewhat cooler which sets the idyllic tone for the sensuous and perfect night. Rainfalls here are very revitalizing and are quickly followed with sun-drenched skies, which makes frequent occurrence of rainbow. Tropical rains are spectacular here but they are quickly sapped off in to the underground lakes due to the spongy island.

In short we can say that if Barbados’s fascinating splendor fails to be a magnet for you then its soothing weather makes you fall in love with this striking island.

So, pack your bags and head straight towards this beautiful island for that perfect vacation.

When is the best time to visit Las Vegas? It’s a popular question, asked by many posters on many websites across the Internet. While there are different answers to this question, depending on the selection criteria of the person asking the question, if you are wondering about when the best time to visit Las Vegas is, based on weather, we can look at past Las Vegas Weather reports to help determine your best answer.
Let’s break the weather in Las Vegas down by season. The daily high in the beginning of spring in Las Vegas is around 75, and by the end of spring it’s 100. The daily low starts around 50 and ends up around 75. Spring is also the driest season in Las Vegas, normally; the combined average precipitation for April, May and June is less than 1/2″.
Summer in Las Vegas is hot, by any standard you may wish to apply. July and August are also a little more humid and prone to thunderstorms than prior months, but dry weather is still typical for Las Vegas. High temperatures peak at a daily norm of 105, and a daily low of 80.
Fall in Las Vegas starts out hot, but the temperature drops quickly. The average high and low on the first day of fall starts at 95/65, but by the end of fall they are 55/35. A windy day towards the end of fall can feel blustery, but you’d be pretty unlucky to encounter rain during this period in Las Vegas.
Winter in Las Vegas is far warmer than much of the country, but you still will need a jacket and long pants. Don’t plan on swimming much, either, as normal high remains below 60 until the Beginning of February, and the low doesn’t break 40 until the same time. January and February are also the months with the highest levels of precipitation and cloudiness; it’s possible, although not likely, for you to spend a sunless week in Las Vegas during these months. And it has even snowed as much as 16 inches in January in Las Vegas, although there hasn’t been a month with more than 2 inches since 1979.
So when will you find the best Las Vegas weather? That’s up to you. It would seem that Spring and Fall would be best for most people who enjoy outdoor activities like golf and tennis, Summer is for pure sun and heat worshippers, and Winter, while not perfect, is still better than most of the United States for weather.

I’m going to be there in from late August – end of November or January – early May.

The weather is pretty much the same throughout the year, except colder in winter. The two semesters will probably be equal in terms of the amount of good and bad weather. The second one might be nicer because the atmosphere around college would be good towards the end due to summer holidays coming.

Does the warmer weather make it more difficult to gain altitude etc.? What effect does it have on the aircraft? Is it easier to fly in the colder weather?

YES, warm weather does make it difficult to climb an aeroplane. It is due to a higher DENSITY ALTITUDE. This is the altitude the aeroplane ‘thinks’ it is at. The warmer the air, the less it’s density, as has been mentioned, and so the aeroplane will perform as though it is flying at a higher altitude. This goes for all aircraft, although as your question suggests, it has a more noticable effect on light aircraft. As for flying in cold air, it is not neccessarily easier, but one will get better performance from the aircraft. This is the reason most heavy lift cargo airliners fly at night, ask any freight pilot about their hours of work:) Night time generally has a lower DENSITY ALTITUDE. There is a formula to work out the density altitude if you would like to know it…
